Pekalongan, World’s City of Batik

After successfullied electrified the city of Jakarta by “tearing down” Museum Fatahillah through the collaboration of video mapping 3D multimedia show on March 2010, now Sembilan Matahari in conjunction with Pekalongan City Government is going to “membatik” Museum Batik building façade by holding up the theme of Pekalongan City as “World’s City of Batik”.

Narrating the history and evolution of Batik Pekalongan along with the conflicts which the batik crafters were facing and also the innovations that were made to arouse the batik industry in Pekalongan, this show is illustrated with new visualization technologies which made possible for the animations or films to be projected to the building of Museum Batik. The integration of illustration and 3D animation that brings forward batik theme makes the audiences could enjoy the beauty of batik not only on the fabric but also on the building façade.
This first video mapping 3D multimedia show in Central Java will be held on April 2^nd 2011, at 9 pm, at Museum Batik, Lapangan Jetayu, Pekalongan.
The construction of Museum Batik is the city’s government effort to establish Pekalongan as the transit point for batik enthusiast also to share the knowledge and  historical value of batik culture to the citizens of Pekalongan, Indonesia, and the world.  The building of Museum Batik  is purposively chosen to be the appropriate “actor” for narrating the evolution journey of Batik Pekalongan in tune with the plot and theme within this video mapping.
Coinciding with Pekalongan City’s 105^th anniversary, this event intends to reinforce the city branding of Pekalongan as “Kota-nya Batik Dunia-World’s City of Batik”, that is Pekalongan City’s commitment to set Batik Pekalongan as the evolution benchmark that inspires the art of batik in the world.
